Looking for an Exceptional Group Sales Manager with a minimum of 1 - 3 years experience at a full service hotel and proven track record of achieving sales goals.
POSITION PURPOSE:
- To prospect for and solicit new business as well as build strong relationships with our existing accounts.
- Provide strategic guidance for individual sales team with a goal of achieving budgeted group room revenues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (include the following. Other duties may be assigned.)
- Consistently perform Company Standards of Service, interact with guests, all hotel employees in a professional, gracious and friendly manner and ensure that staff does the same.
- Represent hotel by soliciting, responding to and negotiating with persons requiring accommodations with or without meeting space and/or on-site (hotel) catering, based upon market segment and account files assigned by the Director of Sales and Marketing.
- Represent the hotel in significant interactions dealing with customers relative to sales and operational questions, concerns, and issues.
- Negotiate contracts with customers and commission agreements with third party agencies.Initiate the preparation of proposals and/or contracts to advise prospective customers primarily of the hotel guest rooms, but also meeting space and/or banquet date, space and rate availability.
- Develop and quote prices for it.Engage in outside sales activity to discuss business opportunities and entertain customers in local and assigned markets.
- Direct site visits and host programs for respective accounts and participates in tradeshows, industry and customer events.
- Attend weekly sales departmental meeting and other scheduled meeting to support business operations, e.g., tentative review, lost business review, group pick-up, etc.
- Conduct site inspections with potential customers visiting guest rooms, meeting space and banquet facilities, as well as other hotels.
- Complete weekly sales activity reports and maintain our account data.
- Know our competitive set, top accounts, rates, decision makers and what it will take to move business to our hotels.
- Achieve and exceed monthly and annual rooms revenue quota.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Regular attendance in conformance with the standards established by our hotel is essential to the successful performance of this position.
- Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
- Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules in response to the business needs of the hotel.
- Adhere to safety, security and emergency procedures, react appropriately during emergency situations, and act promptly to correct hazards.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & WORK EXPERIENCE:
- The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- High school diploma required.
- College degree preferred.Previous Hotel Sales experience in full service hotel.
- A minimum of 1-3 years of progressive sales with a proven track record of achieving revenue goals is required.
- Basic knowledge of the hotel structure/layout and how all departments interact.
- Basic knowledge of various types of set up styles used in the meeting rooms.
- Extensive knowledge of market and related meeting industry.
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
- Proficiency in the use and operation of computer systems with the ability to navigate efficiently through Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet.
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English language to fully comprehend guest requests, memos, proposals, general correspondence and similar written materials.
- Interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction.
- Self-motivated, competitive nature.
- Effective time management skills. Reliable transportation.
ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor office setting with a desk, file cabinets, computers, and telephones and with brightly lit florescent overhead lights. Comfortable ventilation with little circulation of air
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
