This role will be responsible for HR duties at the Marriott Winston Salem, Benton Convention Center, and Marriott Greensboro Airport. This role will report to the Area General Manager. They will have multi-unit site expereince and support the General Manager's efforts for all positions and the assist in recruiting of Department Heads along with approving all offer letters. They will work with General Managers to establish and enter performance goals into the company-wide performance management system and ensure performance evaluations are conducted for all associates annually. The Area Director of Human Resources will provide support to remedy performance gaps and ensure communication is in place with property management to ensure performance against hotel goals. This role will ensure compliance in hiring, wage and hour, and core HR practices are adhered to.
What you will be doing...
- Provide General HR support to the General Managers concerning investigations, compliance, discipline, workers compensation claims and terminations. Engage in High-level HR consulting and support as required. Oversee & execute recognition programs are in place for each hotel.
- Effectively ensure all new associates are properly on-boarded and accountability plans are in place for all new associates; track completion of required training.
- Participate in corporate HR routines; seek counsel / coordinate with the corporate HR team as required to ensure that policies and procedures are current and in place.
- Ensure all recruiting, hiring, orientation, training and compliance processes are followed to include: job posting, advertisement, scheduling interviews, verification of employment, background checks, and new associate electronic on-boarding.
- Assist in the maintenance of employment/personnel records and files as required by federal or state government.
- Assist GM and HR management with adherence to all federal and applicable state employment laws and workplace regulations including issues relating to wage and hour, discrimination and harassment and workplace privacy.
- Monitor input and processing of pay changes, in conjunction with associate EDP process, position/status changes, and promotions; Input other personnel actions into HR system.
- Support the management and administration of- Workers’ Compensation claims, acting in conjunction with GM and HR management as the hotel’s liaison with Workers’ Compensation carrier to ensure prompt and thorough reporting of information and administration of open claims and to ensure that claims are closed as quickly as possible; Maintain required OSHA reporting system.
- Assist management & talent acquisition specialists in the efficient and timely hiring of associates for the hotel through established policies and procedures. Coordinate in-house transfers and promotions using Company processes and forms.
- Assist with communicating, coordinating, and conducting new hire orientation.
- Assist with providing tools and resources for department heads in progressive discipline and termination processes.
- Assist with the administration and coordination to ensure all associates complete training as required by the brand and Company.
- Complete payroll processing to ensure associates are properly paid; ensure all associates are properly coded as exempt/non-exempt; ensure associates are terminated promptly from the HR system.
- Assist in the processing and administration of- Leave of Absence, Vacation time, Sick/Personal time off for all associates.
- Responsible for requisition of the associate vacancy posting process.
- Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
- Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel facilities. Associates who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Experience:
3 plus years of human resource leadership experience
Hotel operations management experience - Preferred.
SPHR/PHR - SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP - Preferred.
Education:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University.

- Fluency in English both verbally and non-verbally
- Ability to write, read and analyze reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information (verbal/non-verbal) and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy under intense/confrontational situations.
- Guide hotel's standards, policies and procedures with hotel staff.
- Prioritize and organize.
- Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgement.
- Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team with out supervision.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of guest, associate information and pertinent hotel data.
