What you will be doing
Directly supervises 5-20 associates in Banquets and Catering.
Conducts pre and post function meetings with the team.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Review all Banquet Event Orders and menus prior to presentation to guests to ensure revenue maximization, audio visual services, service fees, and room rental are applied.
Oversees banquet food preparation with Chef to ensure presentation and food quality meets and exceeds guest expectations.
Ensures guest signs all functions documents. Responsible for collecting a form of payment prior to function ending for additional charges or incidents.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and/or counties liquor laws, sanitation codes, and OSHA and MSDS programs. Enforces and is knowledgeable of safety and fire evacuation plans.
Assist management team in developing and marketing local catering promotions including wedding packages, holiday functions, office parties, local meetings, and charity events. Develop and implement upgraded theme breaks, buffets, and promotions for new banquet menus.
Conduct monthly Food and Beverage Inventories, and equipment inventories as scheduled.
Ensures equipment is in proper working condition. Controls waste, breakage, and linen abuse.
Maintains cleanliness and organization of all banquet facilities.
Maintain a professional and positive attitude and direct open communication at all times.
Must be knowledgeable of all hotel services as well as local information and be able to assist guests when asked.
- Four year college or university program certificate; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two to four years banquet and/or food services experience and/or training (preferably in hotels).
